Get Involved

Whistler holds a special place in the hearts of the people who live, work and play here and getting involved with the Official Community Plan (OCP) update is easier than you think.

Whistler residents are key players in the Official Community Plan. Whether it's at Après in Action, an open house, in an online discussion or community survey, we invite you to get involved in planning for Whistler's long-term success.

Get involved today!

1. Have your say! Email OCP@whistler2010.com with your ideas and comments on the Official Community Plan update.

2. Host a Whistler Backyard Brainstorm

Brew a cup of coffee, invite a few friends and get involved in the Official Community Plan (OCP) update. Whistler residents are invited to host an informal backyard brainstorm session to sound off on what they think is important in our Official Community Plan (OCP) update.

The RMOW’s Backyard Brainstorm Workbook is now available on the Official Community Plan (OCP) update website: www.whistler2010.com. The workbook will provide direction for neighbourhood and community groups to meet informally and identify issues, opportunities, and actions to be included in the OCP update.

This is one convenient opportunity for you to get involved with the OCP update-- a process that will take place over the next year—and to connect meaningfully with your neighbours and members of communities groups.
The workbooks are divided into three sections, which address issues, opportunities, and actions, and should take one and a half to two hours to complete as a group.

To download your copy of the Whistler Backyard Brainstorm Workbook, visit: www.whistler2010.com. For more information, email: ocp@whistler2010.com. Through these Whistler Backyard Brainstorms, we will create a progressive public conversation, in our backyards, based on shared community accountability and commitment.

Hosting a Whistler Backyard Brainstorm is simple:

Think - Who are 10-12 people you would like to brainstorm with to make Whistler a better place? Invite each of them by getting them a copy of the Backyard Brainstorm Workbook with a date for your brainstorm written on the front. You can download the workbooks here and print them out or email ocp@whistler2010.com to pick up printed copies from Muni Hall, 4325 Blackcomb Way.

Meet and Discuss - Gather your group together in your "backyard" meeting place to discuss and define your group's input to the OCP update. As a host of this discussion, your role is to ensure that everyone has a say, that the discussion stays on topic, and that the group summarizes their shared ideas in a workbook that is submitted to Muni Hall.

Submit - Provide this completed workbook to the Whistler Municipal Hall by August 31, 2010. If you have any questions or require a hard copy. Download your copy of the Whistler Backyard Brainstorm Workbook here. For more information about Whistler Backyard Brainstorms email ocp@whistler2010.com.
